This collection of essays is a great introduction to Angelou’s work, as it showcases her ability to make readers laugh, cry and think. If you ever get a chance to see her in-person, jump at the opportunity. She ranks up there with David McCullough as one of my favorite voices in contemporary literature (meaning she is as gifted as a speaker as she is as a writer).
