October 2023

Hi, Folks!

Can you believe we are already into October? I feel like this year has flown by.

I was recently asked in an interview what is the most important thing I want people to know about reading. Here it is: reading ISN’T just “literature,” and it’s not just books, either. If you enjoy Sports Illustrated, by all means – read it! If you enjoy reading silly memes on your phone – go for it! Books are awesome (especially shorter ones – lol!), but reading is not just about books. It’s about getting in the reps, and I can confidently say that people are reading now more than at any point in history.

So, what are you reading? Anything you’d like me to check out? I’ve had a ton of friends and family either recommend or send me great things to read. And MANY THANKS to those of you who send me books and manuscripts. I love hearing about people’s favorite books!

I’ve been on a lot of planes this past month and watched a lot of football games which means a lot of downtime for reading. Among the longer eclectic titles I checked out this past month were Scattershot by Bernie Taupin, Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer and Why We Love Baseball by Joe Posnanski. Also devoured Volume 7 of the latest Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion by Beth Brower (my wife and I read these together – great date).

Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.

Halloween is at the end of the month, so I thought I’d throw-in a few scary picks for all ages.

Have a wonderful October, and enjoy your books!

Danny ;-)
