Hi, Folks!
I love this time of year. It’s the end of a lot of school years, the celebration of lots of graduations and the start of summer.
I hope all of you are well. Make sure you are giving yourself plenty of time to read, relax and reflect. Summer is great for that.
So, what are you reading? Anything you’d like me to check out? I’ve had a ton of friends and family either recommend or send me great things to read. And MANY THANKS to those of you who send me books and manuscripts. I love hearing about people’s favorite books!
I am abroad, traveling with my son. It’s a great time to connect – and I love reading aloud to him (yes, he’s 20, and no, you’re never too old to be read aloud to). I’m reading to him Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People. I personally think this book, along with Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking and Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World, should be read by everyone. We’d certainly all be a lot KINDER and CONSIDERATE of one another!
I’m reminded of a great quote from basketball legend John Wooden: “The worst thing about new books is they keep us from reading the old ones.” So true! That said, while I’ve been reviewing some oldies but goodies with my kids, I’ve also read plenty of great new titles. Among the longer ones I enjoyed this past month were The Big Fella by Jane Leavy, The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong, The Tenant by Freida McFadden and What Does This Button Do? by Bruce Dickinson (who knew I’d so much enjoy an autobiography from the lead singer of Iron Maiden? lol!).
Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.
