I am trying to tackle some Classics this summer that I have never read, and it was with pleasure that I tackled the gifted writer Anaya’s lauded coming-of-age story. A beautifully-written book.

The heart-wrenching story of a peasant woman’s daily trials and tribulations in a small village in India.

Pilchen is a dependable British storyteller whose engaging characters always make you want to turn the page to find out what happens next.

What a treat! I had never read any of the books in The Saint series, and this newer collection of the stories are page-turners with interesting tidbits about Charteris in the back. This issue is a good “gateway drug” to the rest of the series.

This is EXACTLY the kind of book I like to feature, as it is well-written, funny, a quick read and – rare for young adult fair – a genuinely nice and heart-warming story.

Sonnenblick is a great author for teachers and parents looking for an author who will appeal to their reluctant readers. I like him because he tackles serious issues that teens go through in a highly-entertaining and accessible way.

It was a teenage boy who recommended I pick up this page-turning suspense, and I am grateful he did.

If you are not reading children’s books, humbug to you! Some of the best stories lay on children’s bookshelves. I cannot get enough of stories like this one, chronicling the inspiration of A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh. Sally Walker also has a great version of the story in her book Winnie.

Very cleverly designed book featuring die-cut holes that make little things on one page appear much larger on the next. Great message for ALL readers, as the little things usually become the big things.

Adorable book that is a MUST read aloud for young ones at bedtime, as they happily tuck-in their books.
