January 2024

Hi, Folks!

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. The end of each calendar is a great time for reflecting – although I encourage it as a weekly practice. How? Schedule it. I have learned that “that that gets scheduled, gets done.” It’s the same with reading: make it a point to schedule reading into each day. You’ll be amazed how much more reading you get done when you put it into your schedule.

May I make a suggestion? Take out your phone right now and schedule some reading times throughout each day on your calendar. Hit “repeat each day.” Make reading a habit. Don’t create a New Year’s resolution; create a New Year’s routine. Even scheduling 10 mins a day (and sticking to it) will add 3,650 minutes of reading in 2024. The average reader takes about 6.9 hours to read a 250-page book. That’s the equivalent of almost nine books a year!

So, what are you reading? Anything you’d like me to check out? I’ve had a ton of friends and family either recommend or send me great things to read. And MANY THANKS to those of you who send me books and manuscripts. I love hearing about people’s favorite books!

The holiday break meant all sorts of extra time for reading, and a bunch of authors and publishers sent me books to read. Among the longer titles I enjoyed were Joe Posnanski’s Why We Love Baseball, the latest Crescent City novel by Sarah Maas – House of Flame and Shadow, Silent Cavalry by Howard Raines and Ali Abdaal’s Feel-Good Productivity.

Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.
