Probably the most annoying thing about reading John Maxwell’s books is the number of pages I wind up dog-earring. He is such a wonderful teacher. I love his anecdotes, and his teaching points will have a tremendous impact on anyone committed to becoming a better leader.

As summer approaches, I always like to create an excuse to read anything Peter Mayle has to offer. After breezing through this crime novel, I have a feeling you’ll yearn to travel to the South of France as much as me.

Several subscribers have asked me to review more romance novels. I cannot say that I am the best person to recommend romances, but I can say that I had no trouble selecting this book, as I already love Maine. Surprisingly good writing from first-time novelist Connie Falconeri of General Hospital fame.

I really love books for teens that inspire them to really do something that matters. This is the perfect book for students who are anxious to start making a difference in the world now. I know plenty of “kids” who accomplish more than most adults. We should really encourage students to read more books like this one.

Subtitled “The Fine Art of Face-to-Face Communication for Teenagers,” this book could assist plenty of adults who are stuck behind their iPhones and Androids most of the day. Very practical advice for those interested in making positive impressions with fellow human beings.

If you love riddles, brainteasers and puzzles as much as me, you’re in for a treat. I use these books as incentives for students who finish their work early.

More of a book for “tween” girls, this story reads a lot like The Parent Trap...plus one.

This is book one in the Gameknight999 Series. Does that mean anything to you? Me neither,but if you have a young boy interested in the videogame Minecraft, this is an easy way to get that boyreading.

I absolutely love this book! It blends my passion for teaching kids history (this book delves into the Americans at the 1893 World Fair in Chicago trying to create something to rival the Eiffel Tower in Paris). The story is grand, but the story is lifted off of every page by the STUNNING ILLUSTRATIONS by Gilbert Ford. It is a beautiful book to hold in your hands!

When a librarian suggests to an active third grader that he write his own book, he directs his energies writing about something he knows plenty about – mucus! Hilarity ensues.
