July 2014

Hi folks!

Are you pumped for summer reading? Make sure you check out your local library’s summer programs, as they offer wonderful ways to fill the reading gaps created by schools (translation: your kids can read books without having to fill-in comprehension and fluency worksheets, and they might even discover that they enjoy reading).

I’ve been devouring tons of titles, and reading aloud plenty of cool books to my three kids. Of course, I breezed through Dan Brown’s Inferno (yes, I waited until it was in paperback), enjoyed future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera’s autobiography The Closer (no, Kyra Sedgwick is nowhere to be found) and really enjoyed Daniel James Brown’s The Boys in the Boat (picked that one up based on an article in The Costco Connection). Yes, I know: I gravitate toward nonfiction. Don’t worry, as I’ll be reading Diana Gabaldon’s latest Outlander series book (Written in My Own Heart’s Blood) when my wife finishes.

What are your favorite reads for the summer? Do you stick to a certain author or genre? Tweet me @DannyBrassell.

Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.
