I’ve been reading a lot of parables lately because they are simple, quick reads with practical truths that we often forget about. Millman’s quest for transformation and enlightenment is something anyone in today’s fast-paced society could appreciate.

Like Jack Canfield’s The Success Principles, this book blew me away, as Goldsmith offers any reader a $20k+ coaching program in a $15 book. What a valuable gift from such a veteran leadership expert!

While the book was written for teenage girls – please don’t laugh – I think I may have to integrate Holcombe’s advice into my own weight struggles. A cheerleader for healthy living and a warrior against teenage obesity, Holcombe discusses her own trials as a teenager dropping 100 pounds in one year in a healthy way. I found the book highly inspiring and informative, and I don’t care if people laugh at me for adopting a teenage girl’s diet!

Great parable that reveals ten secrets to approaching work and life in a highly readable and enjoyable story about one man’s inspirational bus ride of a lifetime.

There are not enough practical guides for teens on how to solve problems common to them. This book is filled with excellent tips and exercises, and the authors keep the writing positive rather than preachy. Any parent of a teenage girl should invest in this book to encourage open dialogue.

The 11^th in a popular series that is a great way to get your young elementary students acquainted with entertaining chapter books.

Broach’s Masterpiece is a wonderful book but a little too difficult for younger elementary students to read. This companion for younger readers will spark an interest that will get your little ones excited to listen to you read aloud the original.

The perfect book for students returning to school in need for clever ideas to enliven their summer vacation adventures. Tons of fun.
