I have been speaking all over the country this summer, and I guess there is something about the summer that prompts me to read lots of baseball books. I enjoyed Ian O’Connor’s The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter, DEVOURED Jeff Silverman’s wonderful compilation of baseball anecdotes (as written by an all-star line-up of writers) in The Greatest Baseball Stories Never Told and delighted at the cleverness of Jason Turbow’s (get ready for a mouthful) The Baseball Codes: Beanballs, Sign Stealing, and Bench-Clearing Brawls: The Unwritten Rules of America's Pastime.
