July 2017

How’s your summer so far? Catching some rays and grabbing some great books?

So, what are you reading? Anything you’d like me to check out? I’m headed to Mexico for a week of beach reading, and I cannot wait. Got to read a ton this past month, as I was on a lot of cross-country flights. Among the best books I checked out were The Letter by Kathryn Hughes, Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan, Beach Lawyer by Avery Duff and Dragon Teeth by the deceased, brilliant Michael Crichton.

I am a proud member of the International Literacy Association (ILA), which holds its annual conference this month in Orlando. Over the next few months I am going to include several children’s and young adult book recommendations, as selected by students and teachers for ILA. The ones I will be including will feature those books that are under 250 pages that I have read (and the descriptions are courtesy of ILA). Click here for the complete 2017 ILA Reading Choices lists.

Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.
