Hi, Folks!
Well, the summer is winding down, and schools are re-opening. Just when we were getting to read fun stuff, a lot of us are sentenced to a year of dreaded “required readings.” Don’t let it mess with your reading for pleasure!
I promise this is the last time I will shamelessly plug the third edition of my book Bringing Joy Back into Education. Several of the school districts where I speak have been ordering copies for all of their teachers, as it is based on my most popular motivational talk for educators. Educators love the new look and all the extra stories and resources, and it actually was selected as a Book-of-the-Month Club selection. It even won the International Teacher Education Book Award. I am truly grateful, and you can grab your copy by clicking the title. If you want a lot of copies, please contact me for discounted rates.
So, what are you reading? Anything you’d like me to check out? I’ve had a ton of friends and family either recommend or send me great things to read. And MANY THANKS to those of you who send me books and manuscripts. I love hearing about people’s favorite books!
Charlie Munger, the deceased former business partner of Warren Buffett, said a lot of things that cracked me up and made me better. One of my favorite things he used to say was, “Don’t schedule yourself like a dentist! You’ve got to give yourself time to think.” And that’s what I think reading is – an escape that lets us refocus our energies on what matters. I read deeply this past month, and among the longer books I read, some of my favorites included: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, Lake County by Lori Roy, The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab.
Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.
