Hi, Folks!
I hope you are doing well!
We are already into October. Can you believe it?
Parents off tell me that they cannot get their kids to read, and my response is always the same: reading should not be a chore but a reward. The key to encouraging kids to read more is to integrate reading throughout the day. Read aloud interesting articles and stories to kids. Turn on the closed-captioning on the television. Text inspirational questions on your device to your kids and ask for their responses (good writing practice, too). Need more ideas? You can get free access to a 5-day reading challenge I held for parents by enrolling here: freeGIFTfromDANNY.com.
So, what are you reading? Anything you’d like me to check out? I’ve had a ton of friends and family either recommend or send me great things to read. And MANY THANKS to those of you who send me books and manuscripts. I love hearing about people’s favorite books!
Oh – and please forgive the shameless plug – my latest edition of my most popular book for educators is available. Check out Bringing Joy Back into Education. It’s sure to bring a smile to educators’ faces and remind them why they do what they do.
I’ve been working a lot more closely with people interested in growing their client database and influence, so I have been reading a number of books related to sales, marketing and leadership. Among the longer titles I enjoyed were The Black Bruins by James W. Johnson, The Last of His Kind by Andy McCullough (thanks for sending me a copy, Jordan Henry), Sherman by B.H. Liddell Hart, Walking with the Wind by John Lewis and The Wide Wide Sea by Hampton Sides.
Anyhow, enjoy this month’s book selections below. I hope you are all reading some wonderful books. Make sure to tell me all about them. If you're an author or a publisher and would like to send me review copies of your book(s), please send them to the address listed for authors and publishers.
