Hi folks!

Reading much? Thanks to a lot of bad movie options on my flights this past month, I dove into a bunch of titles I’ve been meaning to read, including Butterfly in the Typewriter by Cory MacLauchlin (interesting look at the tragic story of John Kennedy Toole’s struggles publishing A Confederacy of Dunces), the fascinating Reading Comics and What They Mean by Douglas Wolk and Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks (delightful).

I must confess that I love just about everything Sarah Weeks writes, and I have had the pleasure of watching her perform her works in Readers’ Theatre presentations with other wonderful authors (e.g., Avi, Pam Muñoz Ryan and Richard Peck). You and your kids will get a kick out of the mysterious tale of Polly the pie maker and why – after she passed away – she left all of her wonderful pie recipes to her cat.
